Congratulations to Brent Wissick, professor of Cello and Viola da Gamba at UNC Chapel Hill! At the Saturday night Banquet of the Viola da Gamba Society of America 2020 NonClave, Brent was awarded a Lifetime Membership for his many significant contributions over the years. It's difficult to pin down his many commendations - here's one from the NonClave 2020 "During these unprecedented times, Brent's creativity and generosity shine through."
In his hometown of Chapel Hill, Brent has been a stalwart too in giving his time and encouragement to the Central Carolina chapter of the VDGSA. To commemorate this warm, considerate person we have known for many years,
in appreciation, we would like to set up a Brent Wissick page in the Chronicle. Please send in photos, stories, commendations. [email protected]

June 2019. Here's Randy this summer with his Brit viol friends. Last summer I had the pleasure of playing with two of his friends' groups. Miss that treat this year :(

Musicians of course, apart from the playing, really enjoy the camaderie and delicious food.
April 5, 2019 8:00pm — Was a very special event.
Baldwin Auditorium, Duke East Campus
A concert featuring Vocal and Instrumental Laments by Claudio Monteverdi and Matthias Weckmann. (A Fantasia by Lupo for viols crept in between the Vocal works, lovely sounds!)
Directed by Philip Cave (Associate Conductor, Duke Chapel) with the North Carolina Consort of Viols and Eric Pritchard, Violin, (led by Brent Wissick).
February 15 & 16, 2019 - Great weekend!
The VDGSA Central Carolina Chapter's 7th annual workshop, Retreat to Advance, a 2-day workshop for players of the viola da gamba with tutors Alison Crum, Roy Marks, & Gail Ann Schroeder. Kudos to Kathy Schenley and Belinda for all the administration and work in setting up the workshop.
